WHAT ARE QUALIFICATIONS FOR YOUNG LEARNERS?
There are three levels of English language tests for children aged 7 to 12. Each level is based on language skills: listening comprehension, written expression, oral expression and reading comprehension.
Starting to learn English at an early age gives children a huge advantage for the rest of their lives. Participating in one of the English courses Starters, Movers and Flyers, will boost confidence and provide a solid foundation for further studies.
At these levels, students cannot fail. All children who take a Cambridge English test receive a certificate showing, from 1 to 5 marks, the level of acquisition of the skills studied.
Preparation for Cambridge Exams in Cartagena
A2
KEY – KEY ENGLISH TEST (A2)
The KEY is the first level of the Cambridge English exams. It has the same format as the Young Learner Exams (Starters, Movers, and Flyers) and corresponds to level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It roughly corresponds to the first and second years of the Official School of Languages. Everything is available in the "For Schools" version, with topics tailored to young learners' interests and basic knowledge.
School-age students who have been studying English for a few years should be able to achieve this level during the first year of compulsory secondary education.
B1
PRELIMINARY ENGLISH TEST (B1)
PRELIMINARY is an intermediate-level exam (Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) whose certificate constitutes the minimum level required to access various jobs. The level is similar to that of the third and fourth years of the Official School of Languages.
Students in their third year of compulsory secondary education who are serious about learning English should be able to reach this B1 level.
It is also available in a “For Schools” version for teens in both paper and electronic format.
B2
FCE – FIRST CERTIFICATE IN ENGLISH (B2)
Closely matching the level required for the 5th and 6th grades of the Official School of Languages. This level certifies an upper-intermediate English proficiency in most business situations.
A good goal would be to pass level B2 or First Certificate just before entering university. Therefore, students who are conscious of their performance and willing to put in the effort and are enrolled in their first or second year of high school would be excellent candidates.
This is the latest level of Cambridge English exams, which is also available in a 'for schools' version with topics related to teenagers. It is also available in paper and electronic formats.
C1
CAE – CERTIFICATE IN ADVANCED ENGLISH (C1)
For advanced students who stand out above the majority with a high CAE level.
This exam certifies an English proficiency suitable for study at universities and colleges anywhere in the world. Companies and employers will be assured that you can function in contexts that require effective use of the language, both spoken and written, in international business situations.

CPE – CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH (C2)
